Prepare for verification and reduce CBAM costs with actual emissions data
Jointly hosted by carboneer and The ISSC, this session will provide practical guidance on the EU CBAM verification process and explain how importers and non-EU producers can prepare effectively.
Background
The EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism is approaching the end of its first year under the definitive regime. Since 1 January 2026, CBAM has moved beyond reporting and introduced financial and compliance obligations for goods imported into the EU.
For non-EU producers, the ability to provide verified actual emissions data can be commercially important. Where actual emissions are lower than the applicable default values, verified data can reduce the CBAM costs borne by importers for the producers’ goods and thereby strengthen the producers’ competitiveness in the European market.
However, using actual emissions data under CBAM requires compliant monitoring processes, reliable emissions data, appropriate documentation and successful verification. Producers therefore need to understand the applicable requirements, assess their verification readiness and address potential gaps before the verification process begins.
In this webinar, carboneer will explain the commercial relevance of verified actual emissions data and provide practical guidance on how non-EU producers can prepare for CBAM verification. We will also share our experience supporting producers through pre-verification and helping them establish reliable emissions data processes.
The ISSC will provide practical insights into the CBAM verification process, relevant timelines and requirements from the perspective of a verifier.
