Background

In January 2026, the EU CBAM entered its definitive phase. While the transition period aimed at preparing importers and producers, the definitive phase puts a cost on imported CBAM goods. Strategies for optimised CBAM certificate management and verified CBAM data from suppliers may reduce CBAM related costs for importers substantially.

In this webinar, carboneer will outline regulatory and operational requirements relating to CBAM certificates and introduce the functioning of rule-based procurement strategies. In addition, we will share our experiences guiding producers through pre-verification in the past months.

As a verifier in the EU Emissions Trading System, SGS will provide practical updates regarding timelines for accreditation and verification processes under the CBAM and requirements from the perspective of a verification body.
