Understanding the regulatory development
Just 15 days before the definitive CBAM period begins, the European Commission published 11 legislative acts and regulatory proposals that reshape the CBAM landscape starting January 1st. These updates include:
- Rules for calculating CBAM emissions and determining the number of certificates required for imports, including the long-awaited CBAM benchmarks and default values
- Principles for verification and accreditation of verifiers
- Extension of the CBAM scope covering 180 additional goods such as refrigerators, freezers, washing and drying machines, heavy machinery, pumps, and engines
- Legislative measures designed to support exporters of EU products competing against international players that are not subject to carbon pricing
In this webinar, carboneer will break down the most relevant changes and their implications for producers and importers of CBAM goods. We’ll ensure you understand what’s coming and how to minimize risks and costs when handling CBAM goods in early 2026.
